PICS: Section of La Mercy home collapses as KZN rains continue
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A home has partially collapsed in La Mercy, north of Durban.

It's been bucketing down in most parts of KwaZulu-Natal since Monday afternoon.
Newswatch arrived on scene to find part of the road on Twilight Avenue had completely caved in.
This part of the road and the entire home had been cornered off to the public as it appears to be very unstable.

From the side view of the house, you can see that the right-hand side, which includes a kitchen and part of a bedroom, have gone down.
All that is left is the rubble from the collapse that now sits in the creator that has been created below the home.
Newswatch found the owners of the home inside it - who were completely distraught - telling us they had lived in the home for the last 20 years.
They say they were in the house on Monday night with their two children when the incident happened.

They say the side of the home when down at around 5am and all they could do was watch.
No one was injured.
They had alleged that this collapse took place due to negligence from the municipality, adding that municipal workers had just replaced their drainage system last week Thursday.
At this stage, they are frantically packing as they need to be out of the home by Tuesday.
