Multiple collisions in Durban as heavy downpours continue
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Emergency workers are appealing to motorists to be extra careful on the roads because the rainy weather's contributed to numerous crashes.
Heavy downpours were experienced in Durban on Tuesday morning.
The warning from the weather office is that localised flooding can be expected due to disruptive rainfall over most parts of the province.
Garrith Jamieson, who is with ALS Paramedics, says they have been responding to multiple vehicle collisions in and around Durban from Monday.
"Areas of high concern have been Field's Hill, the N2 freeway from the MPC Chatsworth side right through to the north Sibaya side as well.
"With continuous rains, there's been many reports of localised water puddles. Large puddles forming all over Durban and surrounding."
Meanwhile, Emer-G-Med paramedics have treated 13 people, some with life threatening injuries, in a taxi smash on the M41 in the vicinity of Cornubia.
