Phoenix schoolboy shooting occurred off school premises: SGB
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The school governing body of Forest Haven Secondary School in Phoenix says the shooting incident involving an 18-year-old pupil did not take place on the school grounds.
The schoolboy was shot and wounded on Friday afternoon - allegedly
by two former pupils of the school in an alleged feud.

Chairperson of the SGB, Derrick Naicker, says the shooting took place in an area adjacent to the school.
Naicker says the school has strict measures in place to curb bunking by learners - adding he's not sure how the pupil got out of the school premises.
"That particular time, it was actually during class hours that he did what he did. So he escaped from one of the classes and skipped over the fence - I'm not sure what for - but that's what actually happened," he said.

The teenager was rushed to hospital in a critical condition. Naicker says he is currently in a stable condition.
"Our principal is checking up on him every now and then, and giving us feedback. Like I said, it happened outside of school premises," he said.
