Phoenix man accused of killing wife, children pleads not guilty

A Durban man accused of killing his wife and four children has pleaded not guilty.

Kista Chetty’s family died in a fire at their Phoenix home in November 2021.
Chetty's trial officially got underway in the Durban High Court on Tuesday.

Wearing an oversized black jacket, he kept his head down while state prosecutor, Kishen Shah read out the charges against him.
Chetty pleaded not guilty to the murder of his wife, Elisha Naidoo, their 13-year-old daughter, Jadene and three of their sons, Jordan, Aarav and Aldrin.
He also denied six attempted murder charges and one of arson.

Chetty is believed to have got into an argument with Elisha and his brother-in-law, Deon, at their Kidstone home.
It’s alleged he returned in the early hours of the morning and set a room on fire.
