Ramaphosa delivered his address on Thursday and announced his decision to declare the energy crisis a national disaster among his other plans.

The declaration, which has already been gazetted, is meant to fast-track government's efforts to tackle the electricity shortage that has put the brakes on economic growth.

This week's two-day debate will take centre stage on Parliament's agenda this week.

Members of the National Assembly (NA) and the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will meet on Tuesday and Wednesday to debate the SONA.

The President will then respond to the debate on Thursday - with the EFF expected to disrupt proceedings once again.

The debate comes as the EFF has given National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula 48 hours to apologise and withdraw the decision to allow armed members of the police service into the parliamentary precinct on Thursday.

EFF members were forcefully removed after charging onto the stage and disrupting Ramaphosa's address.

African Transformation Movement (ATM) leader Vuyo Zungula has also vowed to take legal action against the speaker.

Zungula was also removed from the Cape Town City Hall during Thursday's address.
