Updated | By Shaun Ryan
The Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry's calling on law enforcement agencies to ensure public safety on the province's roads and minimise the effects of congestion and road closures on the flow of traffic.
It has been commenting after several major routes were blocked on Wednesday - including the busy N3 freeway between Durban and Pietermaritzburg as part of a protest against rising fuel costs.
It says it's concerned about the impact various demonstrations can have on our local economy. The chamber feels direct engagement and discussions are vital when it comes to resolving issues.
It's urging protesters to explore more peaceful and less obtrusive means to address their grievances.
