Nsuze teen's body found, Newcastle baby still missing

As the search for a missing Newcastle baby continues, the search for a northern KZN teen who disappeared on the same day has come to a tragic end.

The two children both disappeared on Friday.

Police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele the seven-month-old infant was allegedly kidnapped from outside a shopping complex in the Osizweni area.

"An unknown female approached a 21-year-old mother and requested to carry the baby. The mother gave her the child as she pretended to play with the child. The women then gave the mother some money to go inside a shop and buy a sandwich for herself. The mother went into the shop and the child was nowhere, to be found," Mbhele.

Meanwhile, the body of a 15-year-old who disappeared from her home in Nsuze has been found floating in a local river.

Members of the community found the body some ten kilometres deep in the bush. 

SAPS officers and eThekwini Metro Police's Search and Rescue Units had to be dispatched, to recover it.

"There's an inquest docket being investigated by Nsuze SAPS. It's alleged that yesterday, just after 11am, the body of a 15-year-old was found floating in the river. It was found by members of the community. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still being investigated for now," Mbhele said.
