Murder-suicide suspected after couple found dead in PMB home

The bodies of a married couple employed by Correctional Services have been found after a shooting incident at their Pietermaritzburg home.

The Ministry says the man who worked as a prison warden and his wife, a clerk at their offices in PMB were found on Monday.
The couple lived in an official residence.

Correctional Services spokesperson, Chrispin Phirri says at this stage they believe that a domestic dispute is what led to the shooting.
A preliminary investigation's shown that a private firearm was used.
"The matter has been handed over to the South African Police Service. Minister Ronald Lamola urges all officials in the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) to seek necessary assistance from professionals who the department avails to officials with challenges that they might experience be it at the workplace or in their private lives," he said.

Minister Lamola said: "We convey our condolences to the families of the deceased, and we are saddened by the loss of lives of the officials as we expected them to continue assisting us to create safer communities in the country."
