Msunduzi to challenge Ingonyama Trust disconnection interdict
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
Msunduzi Municipality says it will launch a challenge after the Ingonyama Trust Board was granted an interdict stopping the city from switching off its lights and water.

The municipality had disconnected services at the board's offices earlier this month as it began a disconnection drive, targetting owing customers.

The Ingonyama Trust Board is said to owe the city million of rands.
It approached the Pietermaritzburg High Court to get its services reconnected.
The court ruled in its favour and water and electricity was switched back on within 12 hours of the order.

"We are defending the matter because they are owing us and we are proceeding in terms of issuing summons. So our legal team are busy preparing documents to defend," says Msunduzi Acting Municipal Manager Nelisiwe Ngcobo.
