Sashni Daniel had been driving along the R102 when protestors allegedly threw bricks at her car.

One of the bricks shattered her windscreen and hit her on the head, leaving her with a fractured skull, three blood clots and internal swelling.

Just days after announcing that Daniel had been taken off life support, the 27-year-old developed meningitis.

Her father, Kovi says she also had a build up of fluid on her brain and underwent emergency surgery.

He says doctors are now treating her with antibiotics.

Kovi remains hopeful that his daughter will recover from the ordeal, saying family and friends continue to pray for her.

He says they are disappointed that there have been no further developments in the case.

Police opened a case of public violence after protestors allegedly stoned 11 vehicles on the 25th of February.

Daniel's injury sparked outrage across the province, with many people taking to social media to wish her a speedy recovery.
