Sashni Daniel had been travelling on the R102 when a rock - allegedly thrown by protestors - crashed through her windscreen.

It struck her on the head - leaving her with a fractured skull, three blood clots and internal swelling.

Daniel’s father, Kovlan, says his daughter has been taken off life support.

"She's fine at the moment, stable and off life support. We are over the moon. I'm really thrilled as a father and a parent. I'm really thrilled," he said.

He says the family wants justice for Sashni.

"She needs a lot of rehabilitation - probably as long as a year. It was serious and thank God she's out of it - it's the first step. She's off life support and breathing on her own. Who is going to be held accountable for this?" he said.
