Mother of arrested DUT student calls for support
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
The mother of a detained DUT student is urging students to rally behind the cause her son is sitting in jail for.

Phumzile Khantini addressed a group of students outside the Durban High Court yesterday, asking them to overlook their political affiliations when doing so.
Her son, Bonginkosi Khanyile's bail appeal has been adjourned until next week.
Khanyile spoke to reporters briefly after the adjournment.
"The people are going to rise. The victory of the people is guaranteed. They can keep us in prison and instead of trying to break us they are making us strong. I never had confidence that I can stand the test of time but I can see now that I can survive in jail," he said.

Khanyile was arrested in September during the Fees Must Fall protests facing charges of public violence, incitement, the possession of explosives and assaulting police officers.
He was denied bail in October.
