Minister promises tough action against vehicle overloading
Updated | By Puseletso Petersen
Transport Minister, Joe Maswanganyi has assured that taxi bosses whose overloaded vehicles are caught on the roads - will have their operating licenses suspended.
"Most of the accidents that we experience are as a result of human behaviour. We have a problem of overloading," he says.
Maswanganyi made the comment at the mass funeral for 20 people killed in the Msunduzi Valley minibus crash last weekend.
Loved ones, friends and dignitaries paid their final respects to the victims in KwaXimba, near Cato Ridge.

A preliminary report suggests the overloaded vehicle’s brakes failed before it crashed down an embankment.
The Minister says most road crashes are caused by human error.
"Speeding, distracted driving with cellphones, and driving under the influence of alcohol are largely the contributing factors of crashes," he says.
