Hundreds gather for Msunduzi crash mass funeral
Updated | By Puseletso Peterson
Hundreds of mourners have gathered at the KwaXimba Sports grounds for the mass funeral of 20 people killed in a minibus crash last weekend.
The bodies of the victims, most of them women, are being brought into the service one by one. They were killed when the minibus they were travelling in crashed down an embankment on the Nagle Dam road heading towards the uMsunduzi river bridge nearly a week ago.
Grieving family members walk side by side with the caskets as congregants of the Zion Christian Church sing songs of worship.
The 20 victims were returning from a church service when their taxi crashed down an embankment near Msunduzi Valley. Initial reports suggest the minibus' brakes failed before the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed.
The 16-seater vehicle had been carrying 26 people.
