Man nabbed with explosives in Durban taxi to apply for bail

A man who was caught carrying explosive devices in a minibus taxi in Umhlanga will apply for bail next week.

Hawks spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo says that he made his first appearance in court on Thursday.

"The 23-year-old suspect briefly appeared in the Durban Magistrate's Court yesterday.
"He was remanded in custody and his case was postponed to next week Thursday, where he will book his bail application."
He was arrested on the M41 in Umhlanga on Tuesday after boarding the taxi in Phoenix.
The suspect was apparently then going to take a bus to Johannesburg.
He faces a charge of contravening the Explosives Act.
