Man dies after taxi veers off road in Durban CBD

A pedestrian has died after he was hit by a taxi in the Durban CBD.

The vehicle had collided with a car on the corner of David Webster and Joe Slovo Streets - those are the old Leopold and Field streets.

It then veered onto the pavement and smashed into two people.
Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson says three people in total were hurt.
"Paramedics found a male, believed to be around 50-years-old, with major injuries. Advance Life support paramedics worked to stabilise him on scene. "

Jamieson says he then went into cardiac arrest due to the nature of his injuries.
"Despite resuscitation efforts, the man unfortunately passed away on scene."
