Man accused of killing Kavitha Nerputh abandons bail

The man accused of the murder of a Pietermaritzburg woman has abandoned his bid for bail in the court.

Simphiwe Msweli is suspected of strangling 41-year-old Kavitha Nerputh, a mother of three, to death last month.
Nerputh's body was found locked in her car on Alexandra Road in Scottsville last month.

Msweli made his third appearance in court yesterday.
NPA spokesperson Natasha Kara says: "The matter was remanded to the 18th of March. The accused did abandon his right to apply for bail, so the accused will remain in custody."
