He says Ntshani, also known as Dr Pashy, told them the first travel document was lost.

There is a different story around her second passport.

"She stated that she gave it, she didn't say it was lost like the first one which was lost, but we found in Tanzania. This one she said she gave it to Dr Nandipha Magudumana and to Mr TK Nkwana; you will know is the assumed name of Thabo Bester," the minister explained.

"She said she gave it to them because they were going to apply for her, for a working citizenship in the US. I don't know much about this, but people who have applied for this working citizenship tell me that this is not possible, that you can send somebody. They say you must come in person."

Magudumana remains in police custody following her court appearance on murder and fraud charges on Thursday.

She and prison escapee Thabo Bester were caught in Tanzania a week ago while on the run.
