Lower oil prices to throw SA motorists a lifeline

Unaudited month-end fuel data is out and it points to another price hike next month.
But experts say this time around, the projected increase will be lower, thanks to international oil prices dropping.
The Automobile Association of South Africa says had international oil prices remained flat or gone up in June - we could've seen a fuel price increase of between 40 cents and 80 cents litre depending on the movement.
"Had oil prices not declined we believe that a massive increase would have been on the cards going into July," he said.
"As it stands at the moment, we expect petrol to increase by around 26 cents a litre and diesel 24 cents."
In June, the price of petrol went up by 82 cents a litre.

The AA's Layton Beard says the lower oil prices have thrown us a lifeline.

Beard says the big driver of the increases is the weakening Rand against the US Dollar.

In June, the price of petrol went up by 82 cents a litre.
Diesel increased by 85 or 87 cents depending on the grade.
