Load shedding ramped up to stage 4

Eskom ramped up the nationwide rolling blackouts to stage 4 on Thursday morning.

The utility had previously suspended load shedding between 5 am and 4 pm.
But it now says six generating units have gone offline, including five at the Kendal Power Station.

Stage 4 of the power cuts will continue until further notice.
"Eskom will closely monitor the power system and communicate should any significant changes occur," says Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokoena.
