Load shedding poses investment threat: Ramokgopa
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa has spoken of the real threat the energy crisis poses to investment in the country.

He addressed business at the Durban ICC on the impact of load shedding and what is being done to resolve the electricity shortage.
"Investment is under threat if we don't resolve the energy problem,” he said.
“They are going to battle, also to secure insurance as a result of the challenge, and if investment is indeed under threat, it means that jobs are under threat and the revenue base of eThekwini will also be under threat.

"The ability of eThekwini to collect revenue and reinvest into poor areas to build roads and to provide water will be under threat."
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Nomusa Ncube-Dube was also at Tuesday's event, saying she believes with projects like Karpowership's gas fleet in Richards Bay, the province can produce enough megawatts to steer the country to energy security.
"The Richard Bay idea is that the contribution that we are going to be bringing in could actually assist the whole country in ending load shedding."
