S'fiso Ngcobo, Abahlali's chairperson in eKukhayeni, near Mariannhill, was shot by unknown gunmen last night.

The organisation's S'bu Zikode says three people allegedly arrived at his house at about 7.30pm last night.

"He was outside, unaware of anything. Without any provocation, argument or engagement with the suspects they just opened fire. He was shot about seven times," he said.
