Lack of police resources contributing to KZN crime stats – ActionSA

ActionSA believes the police's inability to fight back has contributed to KwaZulu-Natal becoming a crime hotspot.

The party marched to the SAPS headquarters in Pretoria on Thursday, where its members handed over a memorandum of demands to officials.

ActionSA wants Police Minister Bheki Cele to address the shortage of police resources within three months.
The party's KZN leader Zwakele Mncwango says police in the province are overwhelmed.
"There is a serious shortage of resources which has led, for example, in Imbali, which is a big township, where the station commander decided that they will close the station at 11pm because they have been a victim of crime themselves as police.

"Now the big question is, what about the safety of residents of Imbali if police are the ones running away from criminals?"
