The wife of slain northern KZN police officer Nkosinathi Ntinga and an alleged hitman made their first appearance in court on charges of kidnapping and murder.
Ntinga was killed earlier this week.
It's understood two gunmen barged into his KwaMbonambi home on Tuesday night.
They kidnapped Ntinga and a colleague who was with them in the house.
Ntinga's wife was left behind.
Police say the co-worker was forced out of the vehicle along the way.

The officer was later found shot dead on a riverbank.
KZN Hawks spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo says the wife and the alleged hitman appeared briefly in the KwaMbonambi Magistrate's Court on Thursday afternoon.
"The two accused Samkelo Mpanza, aged 33, and Ntombizodwa Ntinga, aged 44, who is our colleague and the wife of Ntinga.
"Information was received that the wife was involved as she was left behind when Ntinga was taken with the administration clerk. She has been charged together with the hitman. One suspect is still outstanding."
