KZN weather: Clear skies expected this weekend

The worst of the cold front that swept through KwaZulu-Natal this week is over.

The South African  Weather Service expects clear skies over most of the province as we head into the weekend.

Heavy rainfall has fallen along the coast over the past few days, while parts of the Drakensberg have been blanketed in snow.

Forecaster, Wisani Maluleke says maximum temperatures will peak over 20 degrees at most stations from today.

"We are not expecting very hot conditions, but the weather is clearing. Going into the weekend, there is no bad weather coming through," he said.

Today's maximum temperatures can be found below:
Durban, Ladysmith and Newcastle - 23
Mooi River, Kokstad and Margate - 20
Richards Bay - 24
Pietermaritzburg and Ulundi - 22
Drakensberg - 19

Meanwhile, the Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs in says its Disaster Management teams did not have to respond to any emergencies.

Crews were placed on standby after the weather service issued several warnings for adverse weather conditions.

Spokesperson Lennox Mabaso says officials will remain on high alert for now.

"Our Disaster Management Teams continue to monitor the situation in various parts of the province," he said.

"At this stage, we have not had any major incidents reported to us."
