KZN south coast family heartbroken at daughter's murder

The young woman's family says they have been left shattered by her death.

Madlala was reported missing by her roommate in Margate on Wednesday.Local community members rallied to help search for her. Tragically, their efforts were in vain and her body was found in the Masinenge informal settlement.
It is understood she had been stabbed and her throat slit.
Madlala's grandfather, Sibusiso says the family has been in constant contact with police, but they are yet to receive any concrete information.

He says Madlala's mother is in a state of shock."She is overwhelmed with shock. She is devastated, in fact," he said.
"The police are still investigating and we are hopeful they will be able to give us a full account of what happened."
A post mortem is expected to be performed today.
Police say a case of murder has been opened at Margate Saps.

Madlala's murder is the latest in a spate of crimes targeting women and children that have rocked the country.Activists are calling on government to do more to crack down on gender-based violence.
Groups have protested at various points across South Africa, including here in KwaZulu-Natal.
