Ninow was convicted a short while ago, this after pleading guilty at the beginning of his trial.

He is now due to be sentenced on the 16th of October 2019.

Ninow confessed to raping a 7-year-old girl in the bathroom of a Dros restaurant in Pretoria's Silverton area in September last year. A video taken after the incident showed angry patrons shouting at Ninow. The clip was circulated on social media.

During the trial, Judge Papi Mosopa heard that Ninow had consumed drugs and alcohol prior to the attack.
Despite pleading guilty to the crime, the State decided to call the now 8-year-old victim to the stand.

The NPA received some criticism for the move but said at the time that the version of events presented by Ninow in his plea differed to that of the little girl.

Ninow was acquitted on a charge of allegedly assaulting a child minder who tried to open the door of the toilet stall he was found inside.

The State is expected to argue for life imprisonment.
