KZN Premier to officially release Moerane Commission report
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The much-awaited report into political killings in KwaZulu-Natal will be officially released to the public this afternoon.
The Moerane Commission of Inquiry sat for months hearing testimony from survivors of attempted hits, political party representatives, police and religious organisations, among other entities.
Some of the testimony into the underlying causes of the killings included the apartheid regime's brutal policing tactics, struggle for political power and influence as well as the control of state organs.

Thami Ngidi, who is with the Premier's Office, says the report was received in June.
"Since then, the premier including the Legislature has been processing the report. We are happy that today the Premier will be releasing the report to the public."
Ngidi says the report will be available for anyone who is interested in studying it.
"It's important to also say that the premier is obliged to release the entire report," he said.
