KZN Premier calls for new probe into Albert Luthuli's death

KZN Premier Willies Mchunu says Chief Albert Luthuli's family needs closure on his death.

Mchunu who urged President Zuma to revive the investigation into the Nobel Peace Prize awardee's death.
Speaking yesterday at the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of death of the former ANC president and Nobel Peace Prize laureate in Groutville, Mchunu urged President Jacob Zuma to revive the investigation into Luthuli's.

He died after apparently being hit by a goods train. Mchunu believes it was no accident.
"The plight of the family, Mr President, seems to be that both the KZN and national government must work hand in hand to put closure to this brutal murder of Inkosi Albert Luthuli which has been termed a mysterious killing. We will be guided by you, Mr President, of who should do what," he says.

President Jacob Zuma says the circumstances surrounding Chief Albert Luthuli's death are suspicious and mysterious.
"We must take solace in the fact that his legacy lives for generations to learn and build on - to make our country a united non-racial, non-sexist and prosperous society," he says.
