KZN medics urge people to stay well-hydrated as temperatures soar

It is going to be a scorcher of a day across KwaZulu-Natal. Maximum temperatures at all stations are expected to peak above 30 degrees today.
The South African Weather Service says a high of 32 degrees is expected in Richards Bay, while temperatures in Pietermaritzburg will reach 35.

A hot 37 degrees has been forecast for Ladysmith in northern KwaZulu-Natal.KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Medical Service's spokesperson, Robert Mckenzie is urging people to stay well-hydrated.
"One of the most common problems is that people do not drink enough water and land up becoming dehydrated," he said.

He is also urging people who try cool off by swimming to do so at beaches where lifeguards are on duty. Mckenzie says children must always be supervised by an adult when around water.

Meanwhile cooler conditions are expected across the province tomorrow. There is a 60 percent chance of early morning showers in most areas, followed by showers and thundershowers.

Durban will reach a high of 24 degrees tomorrow. Richards Bay will peak at 27 and Pietermaritzburg 23.Cool temperatures have been forecast again for Sunday -- with maximum temperatures remaining in the low to mid-twenties at most stations.
