KZN man accused of raping disabled woman remains behind bars

A 29-year-old rape-accused will remain behind bars until his next court appearance in Nongoma.
The man was arrested earlier this month in connection with the rape of an elderly, disabled woman in the Bhanganoma area.

It is believed that the suspect attacked a 69-year-old woman, demanding she hand over her pension money.
National Prosecution Authority KZN spokesperson Natasha Kara says the man appeared in the Nongoma Magistrate's Court last week.

"It was remanded to 30 March for a formal bail application. The accused is charged with one count of rape."
