Truck driver shot in suspected hijacking near Stanger

A truck driver's been shot in an apparent hijacking near Stanger, north of Durban.

He was attacked while driving on the N2 north on Thursday morning.
IPSS Medical Rescue's Samantha Meyrick says the man was treated for serious injuries.

The truck and its load were gone, but Meyrick says the vehicle was found later in a sugarcane field.
"A short while later, the hijacked truck was discovered just outside Stanger by IPSS security services.
"The suspects had already fled with the contents of the truck. Both scenes have been handed over to local SAPS for further investigations."
