KwaZulu-Natal police will be ramping up anti-crime operations to make sure that people and businesses are sticking to the level 4 lockdown rules.
"We will also disperse illegal gatherings, including public protests that are always happening because our teams will be working in all 54 municipalities in and in all wards in the province of KwaZulu-Natal," Community Safety MEC Peggy Nkonyeni said.
A man's been slapped with a R5 000 fine after he was caught holding a religious gathering at a mosque in Isipingo, south of Durban.
Police say the 40-year-old was arrested for contravening the Disaster Management Act on Tuesday night.

Nkonyeni says activities at our port and liquor outlets are on their radar as well.
"We will definitely make sure that we secure the ports of entry. We will also conduct roadblocks and vehicle checkpoints to monitor adherence to the curfew and also visit the taverns and all liquor outlets."
