The KwaZulu-Natal government has given itself three months to wipe out illegal protests.

"Police reports indicate that in the province, in the previous financial year, KwaZulu-Natal recorded more than 530 public protests. Over the past four months, over 270 illegal protests have been reported in the province," Community Safety and Liaison MEC Mxolisi Kaunda said.
Kaunda has outlined plans to address the surging civil unrest in the province.
At a press conference, it was announced that the Provincial Executive Committee has set up a sub-committee of MECs who will be tasked with devising a strategy to deal with the issue.
