KZN Education partnering with Safety MEC to tackle school violence
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
School safety is back in the spotlight, after two reports of violence in KwaZulu-Natal schools in under a week.

In Folweni, south of Durban, education officials say they will be offering assistance to the family of a 48-year-old teacher who was shot and killed at Masuku Primary.
Sboniso Nyawose was walking in the school, when he was ambushed by a man who shot him twice.
Police say the gunman ran to his accomplice outside the school grounds and fled in a vehicle.

Education MEC, Kwazi Mshengu says Nyawose was killed in front of pupils.
"The issue of safety in our schools is a priority. We will work with the MEC for Safety in the province - to ensure that our schools become an environment safe for teachers and learners. We want to send our deepest condolences to the Nyawose family. We will be sending a delegation from the department to ensure that they are with the family," Mshengu said.
