Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A teacher has been gunned down at a school in Folweni, south of Durban.

It is understood that an armed man entered the school on Gaze Makhanya Avenue earlier today and allegedly opened fire on the teacher who had been walking down a passage at the time.
Netcare911's Shawn Herbst says the 48-year-old man was shot twice.
"Netcare911 paramedics arrived on scene and assessed the man. Unfortunately, his injuries were too severe and he was declared deceased on the scene," said Herbst.
"The school has currently been quarantined by the Folweni SAPS. Circumstances leading up to the shooting will be investigated by police," Herbst said.
