KZN ANC anticipates another delay for elective conference

The African National Congress in KwaZulu-Natal says it foresees another delay to the eThekwini Regional Conference.

The party had initially planned the conference for December but has moved to next month or March.


Provincial spokesperson, Ricardo Mthembu says the delays are being caused by a membership system that has been introduced by the NEC.

"The Provincial Secretary is engaging with the office of the secretary-general to see whether we cannot be allowed to use the old system while we are still engaging in the introduction of the new system. 


"As a province, we are certain that the conferences are going to sit per road map, but as I am saying we are anticipating that we are going to be diverted due to the fact that National has introduced the new system."

Former eThekwini  mayor, Zandile Gumede is expected to contest then position of chairperson. Thabani Nyawose is also in the race.
