#KessieNair needs immediate medical care: Family
The family of Durban businessman, Kessie Nair says he suffers from a chronic illness and needs immediate medical care and intervention.
Nair grabbed headlines this week after posting a derogatory video on social media. In the clip, Nair calls President Cyril Ramaphosa the K-word on several occasions.
"As a family we distance ourselves from such utterances and statements. We have a history of being in the trenches fighting apartheid and being involved in the struggle for the liberation of this country from the shackles of the Nationalist Government," read the statement.
It continues to say Nair's health deteriorated a few years ago and that he suffers from a serious chronic illness.
"The visuals he posted of himself shows he lacks the intelligence and understating of what he is saying. His incarceration for a long time has also played a role in his personality. Kessie needs immediate medical care and attention. He is physically and mentally unwell. Kessie's statements are irrational and deserves to be condemned. We also urge the authorities to help ensure he gets the proper medical help. We urge the South African community to forgive him and we will do our best to make amends."
He also accuses Ramaphosa of fraud and high treason.

Nair's family has released a statement distancing itself from his utterances. The statement was shared on social media by Presidency spokesperson, Khusela Diko."As a family we distance ourselves from such utterances and statements. Meanwhile, Nair told Newswatch that he is sorry for the comments and wished to retract them with an apology.
He said they came from a place of anger over poverty and unemployment.
Nair is due to appear in the Verulam Magistrate's Court today on charges of crimen injuria and inciting public violence.
