Joint efforts needed to combat abuse

Director General of the Justice Department Nonkululeko Sindane says they cannot fight gender-based violence alone.
''We need the society, we need communities, churches and families to come to the party and assist us in order to address this issue.
''They can do that by educating our young people so that they don't grow up to be abusers of children and women in this country,'' she said.
Sindane was speaking at the launch of a Sexual Offences Court in Durban yesterday.

It is the second court of its kind at the Durban Magistrate's Court.
There are more than 40 similar set-ups across the country.
The facility now boasts new infrastructure, upgraded technology and additional human resources.
