Transnet march against gender-based violence
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
Dozens of Transnet employees dressed in white have marched in solidarity with victims of gender-based violence.
The march comes as South Africans and the rest of the world mark the start of 16 Days of Activism for no violence against women and children.
Carrying placards which read "Women's rights are humans rights" and "Real men don't abuse women and children" workers marched through the city before making their way back to the Transnet offices where they wrapped white cloths around trees.
Transnet's Dumisani Khuzwayo says their aim is to create awareness around violence against women and children.
''We want to show [our support] by actions, by gatherings of this nature, throughout the 16 days of activism campaign and throughout December.
''So this is only the start as we plan to do a lot of these activities in Durban and around the country as Transnet,'' he said.
