Inanda rapist sentenced to life behind bars

A 32-year-old man, found guilty of the rape of a woman during a robbery at her Inanda home, has begun serving a life sentence for the crime.

Nkanyiso Sithole was handed another three years for the robbery three years ago.
The court heard that Sithole and an accomplice broke into the woman's home, when she, her partner and their three-year-old child, were sleeping.

They held the couple at gunpoint before they attacked the mother.
Cell phones and clothes were taken.
KZN police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says Sithole, who was later arrested at Amatikiwe, was positively linked to the rape of another woman.
"The items that were stolen during the robbery were recovered from the accused. During the course of the investigation, the accused was positively linked to another case of rape that took place in 2013.

"He was tried in court and was also sentenced ten years imprisonment for rape and three years imprisonment for robbery."
