KZN reports the most new Covid-19 cases in the country

KwaZulu-Natal has overtaken the Western Cape with the highest number of new Covid-19 cases.
Statistics released by the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) on Wednesday show that KwaZulu-Natal reports 1 979 new infections, accounting for 26% of new cases in South Africa.
However ,the Western Cape is also still showing a high number of new cases and makes up 23% of national cases.
Both provinces are followed by Gauteng (17%), the Eastern Cape (13%), the Free State (6%), Mpumalanga and North West (5%) Limpopo (3%) and the Northern Cape (2%).

The country’s new Covid-19 cases have also increased by 7 502 during the latest 24-hour period, bringing the national total to 2 554 240.
Covid-19 related fatalities have seen another sharp increase of 573 in just one day.
South Africa’s national Covid-19 death toll now stands at 75 774.
