IFP tells Msinga mayor to step aside following arrest
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The Inkatha Freedom Party's NEC says Msinga mayor Mletheni Ndlovu will be stepping aside with immediate effect following his arrest on firearm-related charges.
It says the decision for him to take a leave of absence was made at its ordinary weekly meeting on Monday.
Ndlovu and his two bodyguards appeared in the local court on Monday.
They have all been granted bail.
The NPA in KZN says Ndlovu is alleged to have failed to lock away a gun in a safe.

He's also accused of handing it over to a person who's not permitted to carry a firearm.
The bodyguards have been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Their case has been postponed to next month.
