Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The Mayor of Msinga Local Municipality and his two bodyguards are out on bail following their court appearance on firearm-related offences.
Mletheni Ndlovu and bodyguards Msawenkosi Malembe and Mvikeleni Mzolo were nabbed on Friday.
The mayor's been charged with failing to lock away a firearm in a safe and giving it to a person who isn't permitted to own one.
Spokesperson for the NPA in KZN Natasha Kara says the guards have been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

"Ndlovu was granted bail of R10 000, while the other two men were granted bail of R1 000 each. They were advised not to interfere with witnesses. The matter was remanded to 21 November 2022, for further investigations."
Ndlovu grabbed headlines last month when he was accused of being behind a councillor's murder.
An investigation by an IFP task team ruled out his involvement.
