Hospersa to join Thursday's public servants protest
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The Health and Other Services Personnel Trade Union of South Africa (Hospersa) says its members have joined the one-day strike by public servants in protest against the implementation of government's 3% wage increase.

Government says the pay adjustments, backdated to April, will be paid out next week.
But the Public Servants Association's demanding a 6.5% increase, with workers set to take to the streets of Durban on Thursday morning.
They will march from King Dinizulu Park to City Hall.
The demonstration's part of a nationwide work stoppage.

Hospersa's Waheed Hoosen says their members are adamant that government can do better than 3%.
"Service delivery is going to be affected, there is no doubt about it and we are mindful of the fact and we are trying our best to minimise the effect of service delivery, especially because we got members in the essential service component.
"But at the end of the day, we have to take a stand as unions and labour because we don't want a reoccurrence or a situation where this will happen next year again."
Hospersa represents over 50 000 members in the public sector.
