Vuyisile Simamane says the infant - named Luyanda - was taken from her Hibberdene home last month, when her cousin and his girlfriend were visiting.
Simamane says they had all stayed up until late, before she decided she and the baby were going to bed.
She woke up the next morning to find her cousin, his girlfriend and her child - gone along, with all of the baby's belongings.
Baby Luyanda was found yesterday at a house in Lamontville, believed to be the girlfriend's residence.
Speaking to Newswatch from hospital, Simamane said she never thought she would see her little boy again.
“He is in hospital at the moment but he is doing alright,” she says, “The doctors want to assess to see if there is anything wrong with him”.
She says that she is elated,
“I am so happy. I have been with him since yesterday, when he was brought in and he is with me right now as well”.
She says she could not believe it,
“I really could not believe it was him because it felt like such a long time since I last saw him”.
Baby Luyanda's aunt, Kholeka Simamane, has also been sick with worry for the past month and a bit.
She says she had all but given up hope of finding her sister's child alive.
She says she was overjoyed when she got the call.
"I was happy. I did not think we were going to find," she says, "We went to see him in hospital .. The baby is fine,.
