Guard killed as bullets fly in south coast CIT robbery

Police are searching for a group of suspects who attacked cash-in-transit guards on the south coast -- killing one of them.

SAPS spokesperson, Brenda Muridili says the guards were ambushed in the Hibberdene CBD earlier today.
"The driver of the cash van tried to speed off. Within about 2km the suspects managed to follow and block the vehicle and started shooting again," said Muridili.
The driver of the CIT vehicle managed to escape from the scene unharmed.
They had been offloading cash at an ATM.

The driver of the CIT vehicle managed to escape from the scene unharmed.
"The suspects fled the scene empty-handed."

Muridili confirmed that a case of murder, two of attempted murder and attempted CIT robbery have been opened for investigation.
