Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Two police officers along with seven suspects were killed following a shootout during a cash-in-transit heist in Nongoma, northern KZN.

Officers had received information that a heist would take place. This led to them intercepting a group of heavily armed men along Hlabisa road at around 7 last night. The police's Vishnu Naidoo says during the shoot out a third officer was shot and wounded.
He says AK47s and explosives used by the suspects were also found.
"A third police officer was shot and wounded in the leg and she is currently receiving medical attention in hospital", he said.
"We also recoved four AK-47 rifles at the scene as well as a BMW vehicle which we believe may have been used in multiple robberies, including a robbery at a petrol station in Nongoma recently", Naidoo said.
