Police have removed three devices from two Woolworths stores, one at The Pavilion and two at Gateway since Thursday.

Officers were then called to remove two more devices from the Morningside area on Saturday night.

Counter-terrorism expert, Jasmine Opperman says it is important to give time for proper investigation in terms of the actual reason for why this has happened and for police to reach a proper conclusion.

Woolworths says it has been beefing up security since the incidents at its stores.

Opperman says the public expects such steps to be taken.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala says charges of contravening the Explosives Act are being investigated by Berea SAPS.

One device was found under a vehicle in Gladys Mazibuko Road - formerly Marriott Road on Saturday night. A second was found near Avondale and Milner roads a short while later.

"Both devices did not explode and police are still investigating," said Gwala.
