Frustration over Nquthu municipality council cliffhanger
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
While most KZN municipalities have already held their first council sittings for 2017 and are forging ahead with their plans for the new year - Nquthu remains without office-bearers.
The municipality - in northern KZN - is the only one in the country that has not yet elected its representatives - as a result of political squabbles and litigation.
It's failed on five occasions to hold a vote for its mayor, deputy mayor and speaker.

The last attempt in December was postponed over safety concerns.
Co-operative Governance's Lennox Mabaso says the provincial government is still intervening.
"The MEC is overseeing all the operations in Nquthu. Now there are also serious litigations that are going on, so there's nothing new in Nquthu - and once there's new developments there, we'll be able to update the citizens of KZN," he said.
